How These Images Were Prepared

Each photo was scaled with image-editing software to a full version no wider than 600 pixels that keeps its original aspect ratio, plus a thumbnail no wider than 450 pixels cropped to a uniform 3:2 shape so the gallery grid lines up evenly, then both were exported as web-optimized JPEGs so the gallery loads quickly even on a slow connection.
